Slave Market

Located in Praça do Infante, the building of the slave market (probably the first slave market in Europe), perpetuates the memory of this trafficking in human beings, which also supplied other Portuguese regions. On the façade of the building are written to the arms of the Marquis of Nisa. The first floor was used as the home of Vedoria and customs, guard and military prison. Today the ground floor is occupied with the Museum of the slave market
