A GNR agent with two young children has just won a landmark case for her gender which is apparently faced all too often by intransigent (male) commanders.

In this case, the mum took action after being consistently “obliged to work the 7am to 4pm shift” despite the fact that this meant she had nowhere to put her daughters, aged 2 and 5.

She asked for permission to work from 7.30am to 4.30pm, as this way the children could be handed over to the creche that opened at 7.30am every day.

But no, her boss was “inflexible”, writes Jornal de Notícias.
