Less than 24 hours since the government announced its decision to ride roughshod over the will of the people and sanction oil drilling off the Algarve coast (click here), ‘expert’ campaigners have been letting rip.

PALP, the ‘platform’ of NGOs dedicated to a future (focused on renewables) without oil has not simply described the government’s attitude as possibly “one of the worst assaults on democracy” in Portugal’s recent history, it has highlighted the arbitrary nature of this latest decision slammed for pandering to the oil lobby.
