It’s the first time Forbes has compiled a “Portuguese rich list” and this is because more and more people in this country are ‘getting there’.
In 2013,, there were 65,000 people worth in excess of a million euros.
At last count, this number had risen to 68,000.
But Forbes’ isn’t overly impressed by seven digit figures. It likes to see many more zeros before it puts people on its lists.
Thus this first Portuguese compilation involves the country’s 45 largest fortunes, “worth €24 billion and representing 13% of the country’s GDP”, say reports.
